Hi, I seem to recall a pet shop, perhaps named Hodgkins, on the right hand side as you look down from the Clock. Maybe I’m misremembering!

No, you are not misremembering, It was indeed, Hodgskins Pet & Garden Supplies at 4, The Square. I believe they opened the shop around 1967 and it lasted for at least 30 years.
Ive just added a photo of the shop to my ‘Miscellaneous’ section of Lost Shops.
